Dad's Step By Step Guide for Instant Stress Relief

If I had a dollar for every time I've witnessed irrational emotional stress responses, I'd be a wealthy woman. And I have to laugh because so many would be my own. (At least I can laugh about it now.)

Watching people you love fester with anger, anxiety and stress is so upsetting. There's nothing quite like it. Especially when that person is dad. The man who works so hard at keeping things moving smoothly.

My dad has a short fuse. I had a boss once who does too... More than making people around them feel uncomfortable, they harm their hearts, minds, and bodies without realizing how much.

Beyond the anger, there is the hidden depression and anxiety, skillfully covered up for fear of seeming weak. This frustration and fear congests the body and mind with so much negative and stagnant energy, leading to eventual health complications. So sad.

Watch out for the wrath of a man under extreme and chronic stress.

It took so long for me to realize I had the power to manage my stress and its affect on me. So trust me when I say, I completely understand how hard it is to remain calm.

But you MUST start managing your stress for your own health and well being. No one is going to do it for you. Take the initiative BEFORE your health begins to deteriorate.

Not sure if your chronic stress has started impacting your emotional and physical health?

3 Easy Steps to Instantly Reduce Stress that Don't Include Meditating

1. Breathe - take ten deep belly breathes for instant relaxation. I recommend closing your eyes and focusing on the sensations on the sensitive skin of your palms.

2. Dance & Sing to your heart's content. Playfully engage with life to increase your energy and alter your mood. Don't like to dance or sing? Tap into your creative side somehow, or picture everyone in their underwear. Seems silly, right? But by attaching a happy experience to a stressful event you will change your perception of the issue as well as alter your reactions to stress in the future.

3. Daddy's Timeout. Just because you're the adult doesn't mean you can get away with misbehaving. (By misbehaving I mean letting stress get in the way of your relationships and health.) When stress overwhelms you and alters your mood, be mindful of how it's hurting you and the people you love. Recognize when it's out of control and take a much needed step back to reassess, refocus, and surrender to the chaos. Taking a break isn't selfish, it's necessary.

Life is Unpredictable

The only sure thing in life is how unpredictable it is. As soon as you accept this, you will no longer cling to your emotional & behavioural overreactions.

By now, I hope you've realized how little control you actually have over life and other people. All you can do is live a life you can be proud of and find happiness right now, in this moment.

#TellMeSomethingGood... a Final Bonus Tip

What is good in your life now? Write it (them) down in a journal next to all of the things you want to achieve. Gratitude is the vibrational frequency of success and happiness.

Take a look at your life, choose how you see it, and act on the things you want to change.

And if you would like to learn how to meditate or talk through some big changes, I'm your Coach.
