If you’re beginning to see fine lines and wrinkles and regular facials and at home skincare products aren’t enough, Limelight IPL treatments are perfect for preventing aging. Also, when you have issues with redness, sun damage, sun spots, pigmentation, and discolouration of your skin this treatment is beneficial. The LimeLight facial is a new, non-invasive approach to skin revitalization using Cutera’s LimeLight. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage.
Limelight IPL is a good choice for you if you have a light to medium skin tone, beginning to notice the effects of aging and starting to see fine line on your face, have issues with redness, sun damage, sun spots, pigmentation, telangiectasia (tiny veins), an uneven complexion, can avoid direct sun exposure following your treatment, and are not pregnant or breastfeeding. IPL can be used for darker skin tones, but typically there are better options.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a clinically proven method of reducing imperfections of your skin, including those that appear as you age. This non-invasive and highly effective procedure works to correct skin tone and imperfections such as sun damage, redness or discolouration around your face, neck and décolletage with one to three treatments (depending on sun-damage). A Limelight IPL treatment will even out skin complexion by reducing redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins), and hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage.
Before your first Limelight IPL Treatment, you should meet with a Vitality Skin Expert to determine if it the best treatment for you. We offer a FREE Skin Analysis to customize a skincare plan to best suit your skin type, conditions, and desired results. Sometimes our Aesthetician will test a patch of your skin and have you return in 48 hours to see how your skin reacts to the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light).
During you Limelight IPL treatment, your skin will be wiped and cleansed before an ultrasound gel is applied. You and your provider should wear protective glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The device will be held and moved against your skin and the intense pulsed light is pulsed at the trigger of a button. You might feel a sting, like the snap of a rubber band, which should last less than a half hour. Cutera’s Limelight Laser machine works by selecting Program A, B, or C, and your practitioner can customize your LimeLight Facial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes the therapeutic effect. You may require one to three treatments depending on the severity of the sun damage on your skin. In extreme cases, you may require more treatments.
After the treatment area has been covered, the ultrasound gel will be removed, and sunscreen will be applied.
Immediately following your Limelight IPL treatment, brown spots will darken, and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover redness.
Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease, and your mottled complexion will improve. New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however, they too can be treated. To prevent new sun damage from happening, always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness.
If you are using any laser treatment to treat Rosacea, please be aware that Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source; however, its appearance can be improved.
POST TREATMENT CARE
Your skin will be very sensitive after your treatment, brown spots will darken, and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover redness. It’s important to stay out of the sun as much as possible for up to a few weeks and always apply sunscreen before you leave the house.
